Glasgow, Scotland: The Royal Explorers Club announced earlier this month that the First World Middleweight Champion will be crowned in March when Bob Watson (17/2/4) takes on Paddington Tom Jones (11/6/1) in London. The Heavyweight Champion will be decided in Glasgow on August the fifteenth between English Champion Gentleman John Jackson and Big Ben Bryan. Purses have been set at 750 and 1,000 pounds respectively for the bouts.

At the top: Fresh from victories over Tom Johnson and Joe Ward, the English Champ Gentleman John Jackon heads the heavyweight class. Jackson was 2/0/1 in 1795 bringing his prize ring career totals to 13/3/1.

Out: Daniel Mendoza who topped the rankings in 1794 fell fast and furious in 1795 losing to Bill Jones and Big Ben Bryan before announcing his retirement. The former English champion will long be remembered for his gallantry in the prize ring.

Out: The combination of inactivity and poor effort has removed Irishman Duggan Fearns from the rankings. Fearns has fought three times since 1791 and could only muster a draw with Bill Jones (2/10/0) in 1795. That simply was not enough to warrant inclusion.

In: French Champion Chevalier de Saint Georges has been on a slow burn amassing a mere ten bouts in the prize ring since 1780. Despite a rather poor showing in England this past year, his defense of his title was enough to get a nod from the REC and he makes his first appearance in the rankings. At the past-ripe age of 50, the Chevalier may not stay for long.
