TITLE DECLARATIONS

Glasgow, Scotland: The year now past saw the emergence of Tom Cribb; a popular champion that has London buzzing with hopes of a long and stable reign. The Royal Explorers Club has mandated a defense against Joe Lashley and fully encourages Mr Cribb to seek out additional worthy opponents. Lashley is a former World titleholder and has had a bit of a resurgence since losing his title to an Irishman.

The hoped for fourth battle between Bill Richmond and Jem Belcher may well wait a year as the REC has mandated a Middleweight championship bout between Richmond and Bill Clarke. Clarke is a seemingly poor choice as it bypasses both Belcher and English Champ Isaac Bittoon. However, given that Richmond defeated both men in the past year, the selection is fair.

Lightweight king Dutch Sam will defend against Butcher Lee who is listed at number two in the annual rankings. With few meaningful challenges available, a re-match with Caleb Baldwin may be called for as well.

1806 Heavyweight Rankings

Out: Tom Tring was inactive save a loss to Mr Fewterel and deservedly has been removed from the rankings.

Out: Tom Cart suffered two losses including a defeat at the hands of first-timer Soldier Harris. It may be some time before Mr Cart is considered again.

Out: A knock out by the near-dead Jack Bartholomew did little for Dick Hall's standing in the prize ring.

In: 1806 was a year of rebound for Housa the Jew. With impressive wins over Mr Dixon and Bill Bramble, Housa has worked his way back into the annual rankings for a second time.

In: Elias Spree had a triumphant year. After defeating Soldier Harris and Mr Perdue, Spree downed the highly ranked G.L. Barrett to springboard into the rankings.

In: Hen Pearce is a rising attraction in the prize ring. He claimed the English belt after Cribb's abdication and defended once to run his record to 9/1/1.
